Singlemode Assemblies
Singlemode fiber assemblies are used in a variety of carrier networks and private network environments. The key to manufacturing high-performance singlemode fiber assemblies is controlling polish radius , apex offset and fiber undercut . APA Cables & Networks monitors its automated polishing process to exceed industry specifications for insertion and return loss, ensuring a top-quality product. |

Custom Line - Used when a hybrid cable is desired in a relatively standard network environment.
Standard Line - Optimal off-the-shelf solution for the most cost-sensitive projects

POLISH RADIUS
The radius of curvature is defined as the radius of the end face surface as measured from the ferrule axis. A radius between 10 & 25 µm is necessary to ensure stable, repeatable physical contact.
|
|
FIBER UNDERCUT
Fiber optic glass is a softer material than the surrounding ceramic. Without exercising proper care in the polishing process, the glass can either protrude above the plane of the end face or be polished beneath it.
|
|
APEX OFFSET
Apex offset is the distance between the spherical center of the polished dome and the center of the fiber. The measurement must be less than 50 microns to ensure the center of both fibers remains in the physical contact area.

|
POLISH ANGLE
(FOR APC PATCHCORDS)
Polishing a ferrule with a convex dome at an angle dramatically increases its return loss characteristics. APA Cables & Networks uses the industry standard 8 degree angled connector to ensure intermatability.
